Raffle ticket books vs. ticket rolls

Both give you numbered tickets with a matching stub. They suit very different ways of running a draw.

The short answer

Order numbered books if sellers will carry tickets away and bring stubs back, as at a school, PTA, club or charity drive. Order double ticket rolls if you are running a draw at a door or table, where a ticket is torn off, split in two and the buyer keeps one half. Customized Raffle Tickets prints both, from a minimum of 12.

When books are the right call

A book is a numbering job with some printing attached. Each seller gets an accountable range of numbers, and the stubs come back to be checked against it. We state the start and end number on the job before it runs and check every book against that range. The perforation is set for how the books will actually be sold, strong enough that tickets do not fall out in a bag and light enough to tear one-handed at a table. If tickets are going out by post inside a mailing, look at perforated ticket sheets instead, because books do not machine fold.

When rolls are the right call

A double ticket is still the fastest way to run a draw at a door: tear one off, split it in two, and both halves carry the same number with nothing to write down. Rolls are numbered in one long continuous sequence, which suits a single event and is a problem across several, because two events running the same range at once is how a prize gets claimed twice. We supply a separate range per event and label the boxes accordingly, and colour-coded rolls help where more than one prize or price band runs on the same night.

Whichever you choose

The number on the stub must match the number on the ticket, in an unbroken range. Why raffle numbering goes wrong explains the common failures. We are printers rather than advisers, so confirm the wording your draw has to carry with whoever licenses it; we will lay out the space for it and ask for it before printing.

The verdict

Pick books when many sellers each need a counted range and you want stubs back for checking.

Pick rolls for a door, table or tombola where speed matters and tickets are issued on the spot.
